MISSION STATEMENT:
To build a club on a foundation of honesty,
loyalty, commitment and mutual respect. We aim to move the club in
several directions by focusing on growth and development through innovation,
creativity and action. We will strive to strengthen communication and
foster a relationship between the motorcycle community and the general public,
to maximize the use of available resources to benefit those less fortunate then
ourselves.
New Directions MC/SC is a co-ed motorcycle and social club that formed in September 2006 out of the need of its founders to make power moves in a positive way. The four founding members, who now make up the Board of Directors, shared in the experience of membership in another club, but in their hearts, they longed for something more.
Their common goal to contribute to the betterment of both the general and motorcycle community made it easy to realize that although they loved their starting place, they had to move in a New Direction in order to reach the level of achievement they had all hoped to accomplish when they joined this community.
After considering their humble beginnings, each founding member expressed their willingness to contribute their expertise to the growth and development of a new club. Breeze, President, is a corporate property manager, and public relations coordinator; Kandy, VP, is a registered nurse and financial planner; Tonia, Secretary/Pro, is an administrative employment specialist; and Pay Day, Road Captain, is the proprietor of CIP Trucking.
Collectively it was agreed by the founders that in order to build the desired level of respect and recognition in the motorcycle world, they could not move in just one direction. Instead, they knew they must move in several New Directions. They realized that many times they might have to explore unfamiliar territories by reaching out to the seemingly unreachable, and showing love to all.
Although New Directions is a motorcycle club first, the
social division was formed to allow the contributions and resources offered by
non-riders to take the club to the next plateau.

In an effort to uphold their
commitment to giving back, New Directions adopted Bikers Against Breast Cancer,
Inc. (BABC), a state registered nonprofit organization founded by the club’s
president in May – 2006.
The remaining club founders
are all committee members within the organization. Unlike other cancer-related organizations that focus on raising
money for cancer research, BABC, Inc. raises money to provide direct financial
assistance to cancer patients.
Initially BABC, Inc. was
created solely to help those within the motorcycle community. However, the
Board of Directors realized that in order to make the most impact it would be
best to open their doors to anyone in need.
To seek financial assistance, potential candidates must simply submit an
application, a letter of reference, provide a healthcare verification letter,
and a copy of the bill(s) to be paid.
BABC will then make the necessary payments directly to the vendor. All information submitted by an applicant
attempting to gain financial assistance is held in the strictest of confidence. Therefore, applicants need not worry about
having their identity and/or their financial needs published.
BABC has partnered with the
American Cancer Society (ACS) for education and awareness, and to give and
receive referrals for cancer patients.
In addition to partnering with ACS, BABC has also gained recognition
from various local town mayors as well as that of mayor Mufi Hannemann, of
Honolulu, Hawaii following New Directions’ recent luau-themed coming out
party where BABC received a portion of the proceeds. Building relationships with local government will help bring
awareness to BABC and the fundraising events they wish to have in the various
locales.

Because this is a new
organization, BABC is working hard to spread the word about its mission and let
others know that help is available to them during their time of need. Additionally, BABC has a financial need of
its own in order to continue to supply the needs of others. One way they seek to meet this need is by
offering BABC memberships. Membership
is available for $10, which includes a membership card and vest patch. BABC is currently working with area clubs to
encourage them to provide discounts to BABC members at their events.
Becoming a BABC member is
just one way to help this organization follow its mission. Other ways an individual or group can help
is by donating their time and/or resources to help organize fundraiser events
in their area. One such event, is the
annual Bikers Against Breast Cancer Ride which is held each May. If you are interested in supporting BABC,
