Based on a desire to form a club to combat the perception of women in the motorcycle community as "bunnies" or back seat riders, in 2003, current President Princess Tea and Vice President Juicy formed The Philly Thick Chics Motorcycle and Social Club (PTC). Often times individuals interpret the phrase "thick chic" as a reflection of the physical appearance of members, however to these ladies, the term "thick" describes their unit of sisterhood. Vowing to make a difference in their community by setting the example for all independent, career oriented women, the group is open to females of any race who is interested in the club's purpose. To ensure each member arrives safely to their destination, each member's bike is inspected on a regular basis and every member must complete a motorcycle safety course. The members never ride without first saying a prayer and riding reckless is always a no-no.
In January of each year, the club works with a local Church to collect coats and blankets for those in need. In addition to the annual coat drive, the ladies of PTC participate in a monthly "Feed the Needy" event at the Church. Hosting social and networking events throughout the year helps fund the many programs they support. The charities supported are dear to their hearts because as President Princess Tea says "There are always families in need of clothing and nourishment. Everyone needs to eat and everyone needs clothing." When asked how they felt participating in their first charity event as part of PTC, members expressed a collective feeling of joy in being able to make a difference and actually seeing the looks of appreciation and relief from those they were helping.
