Though she doesn’t have relatives in the immediate area, Honey of Queens Together MC (QT-MC) has more family to call on than most. In addition to her twenty-two sisters in QT-MC, she also considers members of other clubs as part of her family too. Despite the many colors of the MC community, her family is a very diverse family as far as colors go. Colors don’t bind her in any way; case in point is her sisterhood with Beauty from Gettin Ugly Riders. According to Beauty, “Honey goes out of her way to help anybody and always put herself last. She does more for others than she does for herself and I always remind her of that. No matter the time of day or night she is always there for people and I wouldn’t trade her friendship for anything.”
As a testimony to her selflessness, following the unfortunate motorcycle accident involving a very close friend, Honey pitched in to support him in any way that she could. Dice of Grown & Sexy Ryderz recalls how Honey gave so much of herself to be by his side and help his MC family get him back on his feet. “She is trustworthy, definitely a friend & one to count on. Honey is absolutely deserving of whatever she gets because she is a true friend,” says Dice. Founders of Grown & Sexy Ryderz, Dimplz & JD both echo Dice’s sentiments. “Honey is always giving of herself and always makes sure everyone is taken care of.” After his accident, Honey also wrote a letter to the Russ Parr Morning Show about motorcycle safety and to remind other drivers on the road to watch out for motorcyclists. Russ read her letter live on the air and touched a soft spot in every motorcyclist’s heart. Her words also made the rounds in cyberspace via email and MySpace and gained Honey national attention. She received lots of positive feedback from the MC community on her heartfelt letter.
In line with her continuous thoughts and care for others, Honey has plans to celebrate her birthday in memory of the woman who brought her into this world. In honor of her mother who passed away unexpectedly four years ago to breast cancer, Honey has invited all of her friends to party with her and plans to donate all proceeds to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Not only does she want her children to be educated and proactive with screening and knowing the warning signs for breast cancer, but her friends as well – both female AND male. With a pink and white theme to coincide with the symbol for breast cancer awareness, Honey hopes to remind her friends of the importance of self-breast exams and health screenings while celebrating her birthday and the memory of her mom.
