Cocoa Motorcycle Riders Club

Spotlight of the Month

Cocoa, FL

Cocoa Motorcycle Riders Club (CMRC) was established in the summer of 1991. Founders Milton, Blue & Ms. Kathy worked hard on a vision that would motivate them because they loved riding motorcycles and they loved their community. At the time, there were not a lot of urban bike clubs in the community, so the plan was put into motion and a new club was on the map.

As a non-profit organization, CMRC is always busy in the community helping others. Members pay dues monthly to help with bereavements, birthdays, illnesses and other expenses as needed. They have a food & clothing pantry that is stocked twice a month by donated items from club members and others within their community. There are four (4) memorial runs a year as part of their “Riding Against Violence” program that assists victims of homicidal and domestic violent crimes. Many times people are not prepared for death and so many times there’s no insurance to cover expenses, so hopefully the proceeds from the RAV donations will help people in their time of need. There are also several Poker Runs scheduled throughout the year and that money is donated to various charities.

Ms. Kathy, a Red Cross volunteer, is able to find out where help is needed during hurricane season or any other type of disaster. As a result, CMRC provides funding assistance whenever they can through their local utility - Florida Power and Light. Ms. Kathy also participates in the "Pillow Program" every eight months with local Senior Residents. For CMRC, visits to area hospitals and rehabilitation facilities are very important as well, especially to those who do not have relatives to visit them on a daily basis - everyone deserves a smile and a little uplifting.

The newly reopened CMRC clubhouse was designed to accommodate other clubs in the community who wish to have fundraisers or meetings. While they can't make another club want to join in their endeavors, they continue to teach "UNITY". They hope that eventually, all clubs will join together to help each other from time to time.

The members of Cocoa Motorcycle Riders Club want all to know that no matter what has happened in your life, know that you are not alone. Know that there are others who have to face the same day-to-day obstacles as yourself. But, there is hope and you can get through those days by joining the CMRC support group. If you or someone you know is a victim of violent crime, or for prayer, hospital visits and bike blessings, please contact CMRC at 321-243-3711, someone will be glad to speak with you. If it’s just a kind word or a prayer to get you through, remember, you have people out there who care.
