Though small in membership compared to a lot of clubs, Mystical Riders Motorcycle Organization (MRMO) is very large in the community where they live and ride. Since its establishment in 2004, Mystical Riders has participated in ongoing charitable efforts including donating seven scholarships to students at Patrick Henry Community College to help combat rising educational expenses and providing utility payment assistance for the elderly. By working with local Churches, MRMO is able to identify those who may struggle financially perhaps due to the loss of a loved one.
Additionally, MRMO supports various AAU athletic teams like the VA Dragons baseball team. In past years, the club has purchased equipment bags for the team and currently plans to support another youth team, the Magic Heat with head coach Quincy Jones by giving them a portion of the proceeds from their upcoming anniversary party on August 29th.
Other charitable efforts involve toy drive participation, giving care packages to the local senior citizens home during the Holidays as well as donating bicycles to the youth in the community. Through a partnership with a local barbershop, Classy Cuts, owned and operated by Roger Johnson, MRMO is able to collect and distribute bikes for kids year after year.
Mystical Riders believe in networking, striving to be successful in everything they do, and they always, always support as many as they can and always want people to support them in return. The motorcycle community’s support has allowed MRMO to be successful in giving back to their local community and staying true to their mission of promoting a positive image for the motorcycle community.
MRMO President, Buckwild, feels the key to the club’s ongoing success is that they push to have unity and group operation. Everyone must understand HOW to be a member and the role of a member, not just an officer, because they understand that you have to be a member before you can be an officer. Members work as a team regardless of who initiated an idea. Everyone is asked to provide ideas and everyone checks out the feasibility of such ideas. They evaluate the budget, time commitment and energy required to make it happen. If the idea can’t be accomplished as a group, then they don’t do it. Mystical Riders believe ideas have to be developed as a whole group and that they must work as a team regardless of any differences. Members are a family, so they work and do things together as a family.
